Support for Community Groups
Department of Internal Affairs
Community Development Advisers are based in 17 regional centres. All services are free of charge. Advisors work to facilitate access for community groups to the skills and resources they need to create positive changes and social development within the communities in which they are based - either geographical or communities of interest. They are particularly, though not exclusively, concerned with groups and communities experiencing social and economic exclusion. Advisors provide advice, training and information directly to community groups on areas such as: - Project planning and management
- Evaluation and monitoring
- Training needs
- Financial and other management processes
- Consultation
- Needs assessment
- Conflict resolution
- Legal structures
- Funding
