Zero Waste Bus Tours

Tour delegates at Lake Tekapo -South Island bus tour 2006

Since the Zero Waste Council pilot project was launched in 1997, 72% of local authorities have adopted Zero Waste policies in New Zealand, as at October 2006 (raised from 67% since 2005).

We believe it is very important for both decision makers and actual zero waste officers/operators to have updated first hand experience, and exchange of various ideas from different angles.  And we trust that our bus tour can offer such opportunity.

Since the Zero Waste project started in 1997, some excellent waste minimisation and recycling initiatives have been launched, both council and community led, and these have generated impressive waste reduction figures, created jobs, and contributed towards local economies.

The bus tour demonstrates that no matter how low the rating base or how dispersed the population, there are examples of successful resource recovery and waste minimisation operations that can be applied to most communities.

We also organise a tailor-made waste minimisation tour for study group from overseas. Recently two Tongan groups, a Korean group, a Japanese group have did their 'zero waste' tour in NZ. For further information, please feel free to contact us.
