Zero Waste: BioFuels

Biofuels are seen as one of the hot energy topics today, with the production of ethanol as a replacement for petrol, and the production of biodiesel as a substitute for mineral diesel.

The use of these fuels is controversial, as while they have their place, their availability is limited, they do not lead to a reduction in liquid fuel consumption, and they do not lead to the use of more efficient technologies, such as is seen in the development of hybrid vehicles. They are also dependent on food crops such as corn, as well as on sugar cane and palm oil.
