Farm Plastics

Solutions found for managing waste farm plastic

Farm plastic is  a persistent and growing problem for farmers and growers in New Zealand.

The Agrecovery Rural Recycling programme provides New Zealand’s primary sector with responsible and sustainable systems for the recovery of ‘on-farm’ plastics and the disposal of unwanted chemicals.

Compliant disposal of on-farm waste is a requirement of many industry standards, and an absolute necessity for New Zealand to meet criteria set by our export markets.

Established in 2005 Agrecovery is a not-for-profit charitable trust put together by primary sector stakeholders. The aim of the programme is to provide a sustainable solution to help manage the sector’s impact on the environment and to meet increasing customer demands.

Trustees of the Foundation represent Horticulture New Zealand, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Agcarm and Environment Waikato (for local government).

Farmers and growers who become Agrecovery members are able to download reports of their recycling activity to use as evidence when meeting industry standards. For more information about our programmes and how you can responsibly dispose of your farm waste, visit www.agrecovery.co.nz or freephone 0800 AGRECOVERY (0800 247 326).
