Zero Waste: Zero Waste Marae MovementKia Ora !Many marae in Aotearoa are taking on Zero Waste principals to improve the management of waste on their marae and educate their iwi about Zero Waste - reducing and recycling waste and re-using resources. Here we hope to add information from marae about their experiences of zero waste. If you would like to add details of what your marae is doing, please contact Suzi Phillips at the Trust . Kaitiakitanga - passing a rich world on to our grandchildrenA programme initiated by the Kura and small community of Te Whaiti Nui-a-Toi in the Whirinaki Forest, Te Urewera. Along with a network of other rural communities in New Zealand they are sharing internationally, Maori values in relation to the land, the environment, sustainability and preserving the richness and wisdom of their culture. This is coupled with Tipu Ake, an organic leadership model they developed and share with organisations wanting to make radical new things happen. Have a look at their site www.kaitiakitanga.net and you will see that their community has bold aspirations and is involved in a wide range of projects, including a recycling programme for their village. |
