Zero Waste: Northland Business Development Trust

Northland Business Development Trust was established in 1988 to encourage individual and community enterprise in Northland.

• Developed "Be Your Own Boss" programme in Whangarei and Kaipara, assisting the non-business-wise by training, facilitation and mentoring
• Developed a venture capital scheme
• Introduced "SeniorNet" to Whangarei
• Developed a Northland wide business mentoring programme through "Business in the Community"
• Developed the StartRight Programme of business training especially for those facing redundancy or looking at purchasing an existing business with sponsorship from Northpower Ltd and NZ Refining Company.

The Trust also supports:

• Sustainable Whangarei which was formed to develop a recycling component at a local landfill in conjunction with Whangarei District Council and
• Railway Restoration group which was formed to develop a recycling component at a local landfill in conjunction with Whangarei District Council.
