Occupational Safety & Health

The aim of the Occupational Safety and Health Service (OSH) is to assist New Zealanders to have safe and healthy workplaces and to lower occupational death and injury rates.

OSH recently released a five-year mission aimed at a 30 percent improvement in workplace health and safety by 2006 as part of its strategic direction "Together to Zero: Eliminating Workplace Deaths."

OSH works to improve workplace health by monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and the provision of information and advice.

OSH provides employers and employees with information on their rights and responsibilities under the HSE Act and advice on creating a safer and healthier workplace.
