Zero Waste: Community Net Aotearoa
Aims to provide Internet resources to encourage and support the strengthening of communities throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand. To promote equitable access to information technology and the Internet for community organisations. Kaupapa/Philosophy CommunityNet Aotearoa aims to bridge the gap in the ability of some groups and communities to participate in the benefits of Internet technology. A key activity supporting this aim is to provide a website for community groups. CommunityNet Aotearoa is concerned with both community development and equity issues and is built on principles of empowerment, partnership, consultation, business efficiency and community building. CommunityNet Aotearoa provides: - A clearly identified and community governed gateway to the Internet with easy links to useful information;
- A forum for community people to discuss common issues;
- Advocacy for community organisations to participate equally in the benefits of information technology.
