How to deal with waste
Dispose of residuals
Modern integrated waste management practices are fundamentally reliant on two core technologies – landfilling and incineration. Like all large industries the burying and burning technologies must ensure an ongoing and continuous supply of raw materials to protect their future. In the case of the waste management industry this means protecting the flow of society’s discarded resources and channelling as much as possible into landfills and incinerators. The following information is taken from ’Wasted Opportunities - A Closer Look at Landfilling & Incineration’ by Zero Waste New Zealand Trust This report gives the Zero Waste Trust’s postion statement on landfilling and incineration. It summarises key reports and documents that provide alternative views to those given by the landfilling and incineration industries. A comprehensive list of references to other reports can be found at the back of the report.
