Why Zero?

It is important not to get hung up on the zero.
‘Zero’ is a goal – just as we are heading towards:

  • Zero deaths on the road
  • Zero workplace accidents and
  • A smoke-free society

It is a Total Quality Management term.

It sets in train the establishment of practices that eliminate all wastes.

The only system we know to be 100% efficient is nature.

We are heading for an ideal - reaching 100% will be difficult.

However, you don’t know how far you may get until you try. We know that we can get very close.

Already some council areas in New Zealand have reached an incredible 80% diversion of waste from landfill.
